episodes and incidents

research study

A body of drawings looking at how architecture might be composed of multiple, discrete episodes and incidents, rather than relying upon on a singular overarching structure. This begins will the work of Eileen Gray and Erik Gunnar Asplund and extends through Alvar Aalto. A selection of these drawings together with a written exploration, including discussion of land artist Robert Smithson’s Hotel Palenque was published in JoCA.
